All you need are these four simple ingredients.

Frozen rolls – we use Rhodes frozen bread dough rolls (look for an orange package).

Cheddar cheese – we prefer medium cheddar cheese, but sharp cheddar or pepper jack would also be delicious.

Butter – unsalted or salted butter.

Onion seasoning mix – a packet of onion soup and dip mix. We use Lipton’s onion soup mix, but you can use any onion or French onion seasoning packet.

How to Make Cheesy Onion Pull Apart Bread

Follow these simple steps to make this savory monkey bread.

Step 1 | THAW ROLLS

You’ll want to make sure your frozen bread dough rolls are thawed out completely.

There are a few options to thaw the frozen rolls:

  1. Place them on a plate and leave them in the refrigerator to thaw for several hours.
  2. Use the quick method by defrosting the frozen rolls in the microwave on defrost in short increments until soft.
  3. Refer to package directions for any other quick defrost methods.

Step 2 | Preheat oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F.

Step 3 | Slice cheese into small chunks

Cut the small block of medium cheddar cheese into 24 small chunks. You can also try different types of cheeses depending on your preference.

Step 4 | Stuff each roll with cheese

Wrap one roll around each piece of cheddar cheese.

Step 5 | melt butter

Add the butter to a small bowl and microwave in short increments until melted.

Step 6 | Add onion seasoning to butter

Mix in one packet of onion soup seasoning. Stir until well combined.

Step 7 | prepare bundt pan

Spray a bundt pan with baking spray.

Step 8 | DIP each stuffed roll

Dip each roll (with cheese inside) in the butter and onion soup mixture and place in the prepared pan.

Step 9 | arrange in bundt pan

Arrange the rolls in the bundt pan similar to this, shown below.

Step 10 | Allow dough to rise

Leave the rolls in a warm spot covered with a tea towel or plastic wrap for 20 to 30 minutes and let the dough rise.

Step 11 | Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes

Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes. To check if the rolls are cooked and not doughy, the rolls should be golden brown, and when you pull up on a few rolls, they should look bread-like and cooked.

Note: depending on your oven, you may need to bake for longer.

Step 12 | Transfer to a serving plate

To move from the bundt pan to a serving plate—place the plate on top of the bundt pan, turn it upside down, and lift the bundt pan to remove. The rolls should release from the pan effortlessly.
