How to Clean Pumpkin Seeds

Roasting fresh pumpkin seeds is a fall must, but separating the seeds from the guts can be a pain. Luckily, we’ve got a neat trick that makes this task a breeze. The magic happens in a simple bowl of water!

1

Prep Your Pumpkin

Cut a hole at the top if carving, or slice it in half to easily reach the seeds.

2

SCOOP OUT THE SEEDS

With a spoon or a scraper, scoop out the pumpkin guts and seeds into a large bowl.

3

ADD WATER

Fill the bowl with water and stir gently. Watch the seeds float while the guts sink.

4

Skim The Top

Skim floating seeds off the top with a slotted spoon or your hands. Collect them in a colander.

5

RINSE & DRY

Rinse seeds under cold water to get rid of any leftover pumpkin residue. Dry them on a towel.

6

Roast or Store

Roast for a crunchy snack or store them for later.
