A simple step-by-step guide for making beautiful lemon twists without a special tool. Perfect for garnishing drinks and cocktails.

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 6-8 twists per lemon

  • Lemons
  • Lemon juice – optional for sugared twists
  • Granulated sugar – optional for sugared twists

  1. Wash produce.
  2. Cut ends from the lemon.
  3. Slice lemon widthwise.
  4. Make a cut in one side of lemon slice. (see here)
  5. Remove fruit from rind using your hands or a paring knife to cut around the fruit.
  6. Twist lemon with hands or around the end of a spoon.
  7. Use to garnish cocktails and drinks.
  8. Enjoy!

  • This method works great with any citrus fruit.
  • Dip the twists in lemon juice and then sugar to make sugared or candied twists, if you prefer something a bit swetter!
