Follow these simple steps to make this beautiful red, white, and blue graze board.

1

Wash. Slice and dice.

  • Chop the white cheddar cheese into cubes
  • Slice the red pepper
  • Cut the provolone into stars

2

Build the blue area (called the canton).

Start by adding the blue rectangle portion of the flag in the upper left corner of the board using a mix of blueberries and blackberries.

3

Create the red and white stripes.

Add rows of red and white snacks across the board (starting and ending with red at the top and bottom). Once you have all the stripes in place, you can go back and fill them in fully.

More About This Recipe

We love making snack boards for holidays and special occasions. This one in particular is so festive and fun—your guests will love it. You can build this tray exactly how we did or use your favorite red, white, and blue foods.

If you don’t have a board large enough to make the full 13 stripes, you can half that amount and make it 6 to 7, and it will still look beautiful. Another idea is to add parchment paper to the area where you plan to serve it and build it out right on the counter or table. Just build it right before serving so you don’t have to move it to the fridge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to commonly asked questions about making this flag snack tray.
